Jõers, Ann
Ann Jõers (14.VIII 1940 Tallinn), painter and graphic artist.
Graduated 1960 from Tallinn Secondary School no 20. Since the same year studied at the Estonian Academy of Arts and graduated in 1966 as a graphics major. 1966-69 worked as an art editor for the publishing house Eesti Raamat; 1969-70 worked as a calligrapher for the national public television station Eesti Televisioon; 1971 worked as a lecturer of preparatory courses at the Estonian Academy of Arts and since 1971 as a freelance artist in Tallinn and on Ruhnu.
Has created realistic landscape and seascape views, mostly in pastel. Has designed postcards and publications. Works can be found in the Art Museum of Estonia and in private collections.
Has been featured in exhibitions since 1966.
Member of the Estonian Artists’ Association (since 1972) and of the Estonian Watercolor Painters’ Association.
Daughter Luise Maria Jõers (b 1973) works in the field of tourism (Liise Talu housing) and trade and is an active promoter of cultural life. Awarded the Order of the White Star Fourth Class (2008).
